Maximator GmbH opens another hydrogen refueling station in Switzerland

Swiss private company Schwab-Guillod AG to obtain hydrogen from its own hydrogen refueling station in future

With the opening of its ninth hydrogen refueling station in Switzerland, Maximator GmbH, a leading provider and developer of comprehensive system solutions for hydrogen technologies, is continuing its expansion in the hydrogen market. The new Maximator hydrogen refueling station in Müntschemier is privately operated by the private company Schwab-Guillod AG, one of Switzerland's leading food suppliers - but is also open to the public.

Green hydrogen is the key element for the long-term success of the energy transition worldwide. As a leading provider and developer of comprehensive system solutions for the entire value chain of hydrogen technologies, Maximator GmbH is aware of the importance of long-term and sustainable solutions to reduce CO2 emissions in the mobility sector. "Hydrogen is on the rise, especially in the commercial vehicle sector - we can see this clearly from the example of Müntschemier," explains Mathias Kurras, Managing Director of the Hydrogen Group at Maximator GmbH. "Müntschemier shows that there is a particularly high demand and also a gap in the Swiss market and the hydrogen market in general, which we would like to serve: In addition to expanding our existing refueling stations on the Swiss market, we are also focusing on increasing our refueling station production in Nordhausen."

Hydrogen compressor technology from Maximator GmbH

As a fast and efficient partner for the planning, construction and operation of hydrogen infrastructures for road, rail and ship transportation, the Hydrogen Division of Maximator GmbH offers highly reliable and modern hydrogen refueling stations from a single source and currently holds a market share of 20 to 25 percent in refueling station construction throughout Europe. At the heart of Maximator's hydrogen refueling stations are the hydrogen compressor systems that the family-owned company has been producing in Nordhausen, Thuringia, since 1999. The compressor systems are based on the MAX Compression, a high-pressure compressor equipped with an automatic and globally patented seal exchange technology (Automatic Seal Exchange, ASX for short). With the ASX function, the regularly required seal change in the refueling system takes place automatically and within three minutes, reducing unwanted downtimes of the hydrogen refueling station to a minimum.

With the opening of the new filling station in Müntschemier, nine Maximator hydrogen refueling station systems are currently in operation in Switzerland. Green hydrogen is also being refueled with Maximator technology in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Austria and the USA. Further projects are being planned worldwide.

Hydrogen moves people - including Maximator GmbH

Maximator's ninth hydrogen refueling station opening in Switzerland shows: The demand for alternative fuels such as hydrogen for the mobility sector is high. A demand that is also noticeable at Maximator: In recent years, the hydrogen technology business has grown rapidly at the hydrogen expert. From 2023, around 100 hydrogen refueling stations are to be built in Nordhausen every year, for which Maximator GmbH has already had new production halls built in Nordhausen in recent months. In addition to a new office building for around 100 employees, a test facility for the filling stations with an investment volume of around 13 million euros will also be built by the end of next year.

First publicly accessible hydrogen filling station in the Bernese Seeland

The new Maximator hydrogen refueling station in the Bernese Lake District is operated privately by Schwab-Guillod AG, but is also open to the public. In addition to refueling the company's own fleet of H20 vehicles, customers with a hydrogen passenger car can also access the filling station seven days a week.
