Maximator GmbH builds first hydrogen refueling station in the Netherlands

Petrol station operator Green Planet relies on the hydrogen expert's many years of expertise

Hydrogen moves - yesterday, the hydrogen refueling station for passenger cars was officially opened at Green Planet in Pesse in the Netherlands. It was built by Maximator GmbH, a leading provider and developer of comprehensive system solutions for hydrogen technologies, together with Green Planet and the energy company Shell.

Working towards a cleaner and smarter mobility of tomorrow: This is what the Dutch filling station company Green Planet is committed to, combining traditional fuels with the best possible sustainable solutions available today. To this end, the company has joined forces with Maximator GmbH and Shell AG to open a state-of-the-art hydrogen refueling station in the Netherlands.

A special highlight of this hydrogen refueling station is the new Shell Power Dispenser, which is celebrating its worldwide debut at Green Planet in Pesse. The dispenser, equipped with a pressure range of 700 bar, was realized in close cooperation between Shell and Maximator. It enables hydrogen passenger cars to be refueled in the shortest possible time: the car is fully fueled in just five minutes - comparable to a normal refueling process. With one tank of hydrogen, a range of 500 kilometers can be achieved and the environment can be protected at the same time - the only 'exhaust gas' released when driving is water vapor.

Patented Maximator technology: The Automatic Seal Exchange

At the heart of Maximator's hydrogen refueling station is the MAX Compression, a high-pressure compressor equipped with an Automatic Seal Exchange (ASX) - an automatic seal exchange technology. This ASX function ensures that downtimes are reduced to a minimum. "In order to keep leakage in the refueling system as low as possible, regular seal changes are necessary," explains René Himmelstein, Vice President of Maximator GmbH. "With our globally patented ASX technology, this replacement process is completely automatic and takes just three minutes. This avoids unwanted downtime at the hydrogen refueling station."

Family business with over 20 years of expertise in hydrogen technology

When asked how the Dutch company Green Planet came to work with the hydrogen refueling station producers from Thuringia, Edward Doorten replies: "Maximator was particularly convincing for several reasons. It is a strong, German family business and we know that the customer relationship comes first. An agreement is an agreement. In addition, the hydrogen refueling station is the first in a framework agreement with Shell, which involves a total of sixty refueling stations worldwide. This also makes us Maximator's calling card." He was also very enthusiastic about René Himmelstein's promise to deliver the best possible customer experience. "In the end, this personal commitment was also the reason why I chose Maximator, and I still don't regret that decision today," says Doorten.
