Maximator Hydrogen wins Thuringian Innovation Award

Maximator Hydrogen secured a top prize as a North Thuringian company at one of Germany's most important business awards. Thuringia's Ministry of Economic Affairs praises the state's high level of innovation.

In the Innovation and Material category, the company was able to impress with its highly efficient and fast hydrogen refueling solution. The central component of this refueling system is the MAX Compression 2.0, a two-stage, hydraulically driven compressor concept. It incorporates the Automatic Seal Exchange (ASX), a patented solution for automatically changing the seals in the compressor, as these are exposed to particular stresses due to the high pressures. The Maximator Hydrogen systems can be modularly adapted to different filling stations, from small filling stations to those for heavy commercial vehicles. With this award, the Thuringian greentech company is continuing its successful series of innovation prizes.

"The 2023 Innovation Award once again demonstrates the attention paid to the major challenges of our time - be it the labour shortage or digitalization, or the mega task of decarbonization. In addition, the traditional strengths of Thuringian companies - precision, lighting technology and health care - are once again evident in the field of applicants. This diversity is what makes the Thuringia Innovation Award so special and demonstrates the technological capabilities of our state," said Wolfgang Tiefensee at the award ceremony.

About the Thuringian Innovation Award

The Innovation Award is a benchmark for innovative entrepreneurship and recognizes visionary people in the state. Five top developments were honored. Special prizes were also awarded to an entrepreneur and a young company. The Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs provided the prize money totaling 100,000 euros for the innovation prize, the Ernst Abbe Foundation provided the special prize for a company and FUNKE Medien Thüringen provided the special prize of 10,000 euros for a young company.

50 applications were submitted for the competition and evaluated by a jury of 18 experts. When awarding the prize, the jury members decided on criteria such as degree of innovation, entrepreneurial performance, sustainability, functionality, utility value and commercial success. In addition, the competition entries must have already been launched on the market or be about to be launched on the market. A further requirement is that the innovations presented must be predominantly developed or manufactured in Thuringia.

The Thuringia Innovation Award is a competition organized by the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, the Thuringian Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research (STIFT), TÜV Thüringen e. V. and the Ernst Abbe Foundation.
